Formulas to calculate the approximate tons of rocks to use in a 2ft. deep pond.


  • Quantity (tons) of boulders: length X width divided by 65

  • Quantity (tons) of ¼ - 3” Gravel: Tons of boulders used X 0.45

  • Quantity (tons) of boulders used in a stream: ¾ ton per 10 ft. stream length

  • Quantity (tons) of ¼ - 3” gravel used in the stream: ½ tons per 10 ft. stream length

  • Quantity (tons) of boulders used around the face of a Standard Biofall: ¾ - 1-1/4 tons


Note: Quantities of stone may differ depending on type of stone used filter
