Typical Applications
- Condensate removal units are perfect for use as wastewater drain pumps for icemakers, beverage dispensers, drinking fountains, water coolersm dehumidifiers, central air conditioning units and gas condensing furnaces.
- The "Lift" or "Head" of the pump is the height the pump is required to "lift" the water up to the drain.
- The distance the water needs to travel horizontally once the lift is achieved is called "the run".
- The "run" does not effect the lift or flow rate of the pump unless it exceeds 50 feet. "Runs" of 50' or more decrease pump output by about 10%.
Typical Installation
- A residential central air conditioning unit or gas condensing furnace produces condensate at a rate of up to a gallon per hour.
- The condensate from the appliance drains into one of the condensate pump removal unit inlet ports.
- A plastic tubing is installed from the condensate unit discharge port to a drain line, sump, French drain or laundry sink.
- A check valve on the unit prevents flow reversal.
Safety Switch
- A properly wired auxiliary safety switch is recommended
- The auxiliary safety switch will shut down the appliance in the event of a pump overflow condition that could lead to property damage.
- Pump overflow can be caused by a blocked discharge line, power loss to the pump, or pump malfunction.
- Normally open or normally closed switch can be connected to shutdown the appliance or wired to an alarm to warn of possible tank overflow.
