Bilge Pumps

Bilge pumps are used to remove bilge water (the bilge is the lowest compartment inside the hull of a ship, where the two sides meet at the bottom). Fuel can mix with the bilge water, therefore, electric bilge pumps are designed to be non-sparking. Electric bilge pumps are often fitted with float switches which turn on the pump automatically when the bilge fills to a set level. Because bilge pumps can fail, a backup pump is recommended. The primary pump should be located at the lowest point of the bilge, while the secondary pump should be located somewhat higher. This activates the secondary pump only when the primary pump is overwhelmed and keeps the secondary pump free of the debris in the bilge that tends to clog the primary pump.

Chemical Pumps

A chemical pump is any pump that is designed for use in pumping chemicals. A chemical pump should be resistant to corrosive materials, which makes it possible for them to handle corrosive and abrasive industrial liquids that would be damaging to standard pumps and piping systems. Apart from these general qualifications, a chemical pump may be practically any type of pump, and there are thousands of types of chemical pumps available for use depending upon the application. Some are made to handle simple, less corrosive chemicals such as oils or cosmetic products, while others are designed to pump the types of dangerous and volatile chemicals that must be kept under very specific conditions.

Dewatering Pumps

Dewatering Pumps are used in the removal of water from solid material or soil. Construction dewatering, unwavering, or water control are common terms used to describe removal of groundwater or surface water from a riverbed, construction site, caisson, or mine shaft, by pumping. On a construction site, this dewatering may be implemented before excavation for foundations, shoring, swimming pools or cellar space to lower the water table. This frequently involves the use of submersible dewatering pumps, centrifugal trash pumps.

Irrigation Pumps

Irrigation pumps installed above the water level are the most commonly used type in irrigation systems. They must be filled with water, or primed, prior to operation and can draw water from reservoirs, lakes, streams and wells. Centrifugal irrigation pumps offer a wide range of capacities while providing a fairly constant flow rate. The capacity is measured in gallons per minute (GPM) and is a function of the motor's horsepower (HP), discharge pressure (measured in pounds per square inch, or PSI) and the distance above water the pump is located. As the flow rate increases, pressure decreases, and vice versa.

Jockey Pumps

Fire Jockey Pumps are low flow, high pressure pumps that keep the fire system pressurized during non-fire conditions. They are usually sized at 1% the capacity of the main Fire Pump and must be able to deliver at least the same discharge pressure as the main pump. The large flow main fire pump is activated by a system pressure drop, so it is very important to maintain system pressure since even the packing drip or normal plumbing leaks will allow the system pressure to drop over a period of time.

Pool and Spa

Hayward Super Pumps, Hayward MaxiFlo Pumps, StaRite Duraglass and Max-E-Pro swimming pool pumps, center & side discharge spa pumps, self draining hot tub pumps and Rule pool cover pumps. The heart of the pool or spa system is the water pump. In a typical pump system, an electric motor spins an impeller inside the pump housing. The impeller drives the water from the various drains through the filter and back out to the water inlets. Just before it flows into the pump, the water passes through a strainer basket that catches leaves and other large debris that might clog up the pump.

Rain Barrel Pumps

Rainwater harvesting is the process of collecting and storing rain for future use. This process uses a catchment system to decrease runoff and collect rainwater. Rain barrels are one form of catchment systems that are popular for residential use. A rain barrel collects and stores rainwater from a roof that would otherwise be lost to runoff and diverted to storm drains and streams.

Septic Tank Pumps

A septic effluent pump is added to a home sewage system when an area is not adequate to allow for gravitational flow to work properly. It pumps effluent, or waste-water, into the drainfield from a second underground tank. Conventional septic tanks do not include a septic effluent pump. They simply rely on gravity to carry waste-water from a home's sinks, showers and toilets into an onsite sewage treatment system. This system typically consists of a buried tank and drainfield laid out in beds of sand and gravel

Sewage Pumps

Most sewage systems work using the power of gravity to move solids and liquids down a line. However, there are situations where it is necessary to pump sewage uphill from a septic tank to the city sewage system. In those cases, a sewage pump is required to move the effluent. A submersible sewage pump is located at the bottom of a basin or receptacle, such as a septic tank. Submersible sewage became popular in the early 1960s, when a guide-rail system was developed to lift the pump out of the pump station for repair, and ended the dirty and dangerous task of sending people into the sewage or wet pit. The growth of the submersible pump for sewage pumping has been dramatic, as specifiers learned of their advantages.

Shower Drain Pump Kit

The Rule Pumps shower drain kit 800 GPH model 98 is a compact, full capacity shower drain system. It automatically turns on after the water starts, and shuts off when the water is removed. The Rule shower drain kit Activated by a Rule-A-Matic float switch. It has three inlet ports, which offer varying combinations of inlet hose. Other features include a clear screw down cover, a removable strainer for easy cleaning, and an internal check valve to prevent back flow.

Solar Powered

Rule RainPerfect Rain Barrel Pump System # RB280-100 has the capacity of pumping 100 gallons of water per charge with 13 PSI of pressure! It has the ability to empty a 55 gallon rain barrel in approximately 18 minutes and will empty almost two barrels on a single charge...at no additional electrical cost to you. H2O Only. This pump is designed for use with fresh and sea water only.

Sprinkler Pumps

Sprinkler pumps are used when the pump is located above the water draws vertically from 20' depth water or less. Sprinkler pumps use a single suction pipe to draw water from wells, multiple driven points or surface water such as from lakes, rivers and canals. Due to larger pumping volumes, pipe sizes on both suction and discharge ends are larger than that found in typical water pressure systems. To select a pump first determine the suction lift: the number of sprinkler heads going on at one time. Multiply the number of heads (x 3) for total demand. Review pump performance charts and find the pump that will deliver total demand or greater at 30 PSI. For transfer applications, select the pump with the best performance for your needs.

Statuary Pumps

Little Giant Pumps PondWorks Pumps are designed for continuous operation for table top displays, fish and Koi ponds, small and large statuary, ponds, fountains, waterfalls, streams and water gardening. The water in a basic pond should be turned at least once an hour, which means a 500 gallon pond should have at least a 500 GPH (Gallons Per Hour) pump.

Storm Water Pumps

Commercial stormwater pumps are necessary to remove storm water from areas that cannot be drained by gravity. Submersible pumps provide special advantages in simplifying the design, construction, and maintenance and, therefore, the cost of the pumping station. Submersible pumps are close-coupled pumps driven by a submersible motor and are a vertical type of pump. The preferred submersible pumps are those with non-clog impellers that deliver higher efficiencies with lower life cycle costs than the recessed impellers. Use of anything other than a constant speed, single-stage, and single suction pump is rare. The critical parameter is the time between stopping and restarting an individual pump, not how long the pump runs after it starts.

Sump Pumps

Sump, effluent, dewatering, stormwater, wastewater & sewage pumps from Goulds Water Technology Pumps, Leader Pumps, Liberty Pumps, Little Giant Pumps, Myers Pumps, Pedrollo Pumps & Rule Pumps for residential, commercial, industrial use.

Test Pumps

Hydrostatic testing is an important process that uses water to test for leaks in pressure vessels, fire hoses, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, boilers, water meters, plumbing lines, and solar systems. The process involves placing water under pressure, inside the vessel that is to be tested to ensure that it will not leak or be damaged. Usually a given vessel will be tested above its recommended pressure setting, approximately 166%, in order to simulate extreme conditions and give a margin of safety.

Transfer Pumps

UnderThe Sink

Under the sink drain pump are used to pump the drain water for laundry tray sinks, bar sinks, multi-compartment sinks, utility sinks, dishwasher, washing machines and other basement remodeling projects. Under the sink drain pumps allows the freedom to install fixtures where gravity drain lines are not available. These units are designed to for gray wastewater applications. They are not designed for use in septic tanks or underground vaults to handle raw sewage or effluents. Never use these units in hazardous or explosive locations nor for pumping chemicals. The systems arrive fully assembled and are designed to be installed above ground. These economical water removal systems are great for basements or areas where the main drain is higher. Systems are UL listed, CSA approved, and the basins are IAPMO approved.

Waterfall Pumps

Waterfalls are a mixture of art and engineering, a strong back and willingness to get wet. If the soil is easy to dig, excavate the entire project. If digging is difficult, build your stream above ground with stones for the base. Very little slope is needed (minimum 2 in. drop per 10 ft. of stream). For faster moving water or taller waterfalls, make the grade steeper (which also adds more sound).

Well Pumps

A submersible pump, which is the type most often used in drilled wells, consists of a pump and motor unit. The pump is placed directly into the well, below the water level. Jet pumps are not installed in the well, but installed above ground. Jet pumps operate by forcing water through a jet or Venturi, a narrow, cone-shaped device that creates a partial vacuum (suction) and draws water from the well into the pumping system. Shallow well jet pumps that are used where the water is less than 25 feet below the surface have the jet located in the pump itself. For deeper wells, the jet is located inside the well below the water level.
